Glacier Route Northbound
Northbound Glacier Route cruises are seven nights in length and
sail from Vancouver, BC to either
Whittier or Seward.
Glacier Routes cruises are sometimes referred to as “Gulf of Alaska”
cruises or “Voyage of the Glaciers” cruises for their additional
glacier viewing opportunities. They include the sights and ports
of the Inside Passage, but also additional glacier viewing destinations
like College Fjord and the rugged coastline along the Gulf of Alaska.
Ports of call may include cites such as Juneau,
Ketchikan, Haines,
Icy Strait Point, Sitka
and Skagway. Generally, there
are two or three days at sea including popular scenic cruising destinations
such as Glacier Bay, Hubbard
Glacier, College Fjord
or Prince William Sound.
Another great thing about this itinerary is the chance to explore
the land side of Alaska after disembarking in Seward or Whittier.
Many cruisers extend their Alaska vacation and spend another four
to seven days exploring popular land side destinations such as Seward,
Anchorage, Denali Naional Park and Fairbanks. Be sure to check out
our page on Alaska land tours.
Both Whittier and Seward are just a few hours from the city of
Anchorage which is Alaska’s largest city and a convenient airline
hub. Transportation options by motorcoach and railroad are available
both from the cruise lines and independently.
Don't forget to look into post cruise land tours and transfers from the pier for your Alaska cruise.
